NOTHING LIKE THE FIRST: Dylan Schmer Grabs His First Win with the High Plains DirtCar Late Models at Dawson County Speedway

Lexington, Nebraska 8/12/2024 (www.highplainslatemodelseries.com) - The High Plains Kansas DirtCar Late Model Series concluded its two-day Nebraska tour at Dawson County Raceway for the final night of the Cornhusker Showdown.

Starting the night off, Josh Leonard blew a motor prior to the Heat races. The team went for the backup car, but inevitably fell short of time to change the seat, meaning his son Braxten, was up for the challenge again. After preliminary action was completed, the field was set to go in the 20-lap feature.

Braxten Leonard and Dylan Schmer led the field to green, and the action kicked off. As the leaders began to pluck away the laps, problems started arising throughout the field. The #1 of Jake Bridge, who started 3rd, began having engine issues and quickly left the track.

Just a few laps later, the #85b of Braxten Leonard, who was leading, started to dispense smoke from the tail end, bringing out another yellow. The #85b of Leonard would go to the pit and quickly make a return to the track.

With all the commotion, the #5S of Dylan Schmer found himself in the right spot. Taking the lead and never looking back, Schmer would go on to grab his first ever win with the High Plains Kansas Dirt Car Late Model Series.

The Series will now head to the Belleville High Banks on August 18th for the DirtCrown 50. The event will be broadcasted on DirtCrown TV.
